The SibAnts Software team offers a complete service to migrate
your Centura applications to the J2EE platform. Translation to
.NET platform (C# and VB.NET) is now available and is based on the same well
proven translation engine.
We have created a new technology and a process that dramatically simplifies
the translation and testing. Our developers are experts in Centura , Java
and .NET technologies and this gives us a significant advantage over
other companies.
Translation: The migrated application will have the same functionality
and interface that you are accustomed to. But our aim was, not only to make
a converted application look and work the same way as the original, but also
to ensure that the translated program was easy to modify and further develop.
With this goal in mind, we created an engine, which generates code, which is
easily understood by any Java or .NET programmer. Also because a thoroughly
tested tool translates most of the code automatically, it eliminates the risk of
new errors during the manual conversion.
The SibAnts Java/.NET Convertor libraries will provide you with support for many classes, functions
and variables. It consists of several packages for additional data types; exception
handling; messaging; I/O; visual components; database support; reporting and
quick objects to name a few.
Refactoring: It's an optional part of our service. Refactoring
means the improvement that doesn't change the functionality of the
program. If some pieces of the translated code or part of the application structure
look cumbersome, we'll rewrite them to be easier to understand and maintain in future.
It can also improve the performance and robustness of the application.
Optimization: Java and .NET frameworks provide many effective approaches that
can give an incredible performance boost to your application. These techniques
are not available in Centura , but can be implemented manually. We will
also profile your application and rewrite time-critical parts for better performance.
Testing: The final stage of migration involves testing and
it will be done thoroughly. We are confident that our migration process will
not hurt your application. In fact it is usual, during the migration, to find
multiple code and/or design defects from the original project, which were undetected
by the Centura compiler, customer's programmers and QA teams. Do not worry though;
we will fix these too, making your application more robust.
The Future: Our work is not over after testing. You'll get
fast and friendly support of our experts on our library and other migration-related
aspects. We will also help you to maintain and develop the system for the long
term.
